Akaku Maui Community Media’s The Maui Daily cable news program took top honors in the Professional News Programming category at the Alliance for Community Media’s Western Access Video Excellence (WAVE) Awards, held in San Jose, California April 1.

The Maui Daily, anchored by Jena Archangel Miller, is a local news program cablecast live Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. on Spectrum channel 55 and repeated again at 7:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., and midnight. It is also streamed live on Akakū’s Facebook page and available to watch on demand at akaku.org/themauidaily.

Akaku is a nonprofit public access community television station located in Kahului and funded primarily by a small percentage of the cable subscription fees collected in the county. Any resident can submit non-commercial video content to be aired on their three cable TV channels.
