Daniel Kaleikini (1937-2023)

Iconic singer, musician, and entertainer Daniel Kaleikini died on January 6 at the age of 85.

Known widely as “the ambassador of aloha,” his career spanned three decades and included sit-downs with U.S. presidents an an array of celebrities. That included legendary waterman Duke Kahanamoku, whom Kaleikini met and collaborated with in 1959, as well as multiple appearances on “Hawaii Five-O.”

“Growing up on Maui, he was a weekly television fixture…when he hosted the Danny Kaleikini Theater, introducing a movie each week,” wrote 5th District Sen. Gilbert Keith-Agaran on social media. “He visited my office on Opening Day in 2015. Condolences to his family and friends.”
