O KALANI GALLERY EXHIBIT

May 1-June 18 | Maui Arts & Cultural Center

The gallery will Feature a contemporary Hawaiian art exhibit of works by Sean Kekamakupa‘aikapono Ka‘onohiokalani Lee Loy Browne and Imaikalani Kalahele. The exhibition includes sculptures and paintings not previously exhibited. The exhibit title references the Hawaiian view of a relationship with the divine, which can be translated as “from the heavens,” and also acknowledges the names of both artists.

THE PRANKSTARS

Bay Area’s best musicians mixed with some of Hawaiʻi’s best musicians in the Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia Band genre, are bringing the high energy and deep chewy jams. The night will feature music by Danny Eisenberg, Mike Meagher, Erica Jeski, Troll Garcia and Pete Grand.

GROWING HAWAIIAN ‘AWA

‘Awa (Piper methysticum) was an important medicine and ceremonial beverage in early Hawai‘i. This class will explore the heritage Hawaiian varieties of ‘awa by covering variety identification, planting methods, pest and disease control, and plant uses with cultural practitioner, Kaʻiana Runnels.

YET FILM TOUR 2022

May 19 | Maui Arts & Cultural Center 

Join an epic night of storytelling through film! The evening will include seven new films, including River Pirates featuring Maui’s Lauren Spalding and Beyond Sunset featuring Oʻahu’s Emily Erickson, along with special guest appearances and raffles for YETI gear. Everyone in attendance will receive a free piece of customized YETI Drinkware fueled by TINCUP Whiskey. Bring your blankets or low-rise beach chairs for seating on the lawn. All proceeds from this film tour will go toward preserving wild places through conservation partners.
