Work is being conducted at Mākena State Park to remove fallen trees and branches. The Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of State Parks (DSP) will therefore close sections of the popular South Maui area at intervals over the next week-plus.
The closures are:
- January 31 and February 1: Black Sand Beach gate will be closed
- February 2-3, as well as February 6-7: First entrance (north paved parking lot, parking lot entry gate) will be closed
- February 8-10: Second and Third entrances will be intermittently closed
The project is expected to be completed by February 10, per DLNR.
Though, as we all know with county projects, “expected” is as expected does.
